The Pilates Method is a series of exercises developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s. These exercises are performed on a mat and on equipment that Pilates designed himself. The Method simultaneously strengthens the center, lengthens the spine, builds muscle tone, and increases flexibility, all whil eliminating excess tension and strain on the joints.
The Method uniformly develops the body, corrects bad posture, lengthens and strengthens the musculature, and restores and increases physical vitality. Pilates, which also stimulates the mind and elevates the spirit, is suitable for all ages and all body types.
